Used IBM 68Y9710 MAX5 V2 Memory Expansion Module Chassis for System x
IBM 68Y9710 MAX5 V2 for System x is a scalable, 1U, memory expansion drawer. The IBM MAX5 V2 for System x delivers an additional 32 DIMM slots for added performance and a node controller for scalability. Supporting up to 32 DDR3 DIMMs, two 675-watt power supplies, and five 40 mm hot-swap speed-controlled fans, it provides added memory and multi-node scaling support for host servers. MAX5 V2 is the second generation unit and features newer versions of the Intel scalable memory buffers, which enable support for both 1.35V DIMMs and 32 GB DIMMs. The MAX5 expansion module is based on eX5, the next generation of Enterprise X-Architecture. The MAX5 expansion module is designed for performance, expandability, and scalability; the fans and power supplies use hot-swap technology for easy replacement without requiring your expansion module to be turned off.
The IBM MAX5 for System x (MAX5) memory expansion module provides several features for easy operation, including customer replaceable units (CRUs), Light path diagnostics LEDs, redundant cooling and power capabilities, and a large memory capacity. The MAX5 expansion module supports a maximum of two 675-watt hot-swap power supplies and five single-motor hot-swap fans, which provides redundancy and hot-swap capability. The redundant cooling by the fans enables continued operation if one fan fails. The MAX5 comes with one 675-watt hot-swap power supply and five fans. If a problem occurs with one of the power supplies, the other power supply can meet the power requirements. The memory bus supports up to 1 TB of memory (depending on the size of the DIMMs). The memory controller supports error-correcting code (ECC) for up to 32 industry-standard 1333 MHz PC3-10600R-999, 1333 MHz PC3L-10600, or 1333 MHz PC3-8500, DDR3 (third-generation double-data-rate), registered, synchronous dynamic random access memory (SDRAM) dual inline memory modules (DIMMs).
